I met Jesse Daly and Mark Fleschler in 1998. Jesse lived across the hall from me in my college dorm. We became friends when I heard him play guitar through a Marshall half stack. Mark was a high school friend of his. As soon as they found out I was into music they started bombarding me with CDs. Autechre, Arovane, Squarepusher, Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada among others. They called it, IDM or, intelligent dance music, which from what I could tell meant that you couldn't dance to it. It was music I wasn't familiar with and they took great pride in giving me an education.

At some point they came across some software program called Buzz and started producing music under the name Iapetus. I dabbled but didn't put forth too much energy. I was in a band. The three of us, with mutual friend, Josh Benedict would later start the band, BLEEGO.

in 2000 I cut the tip of my finger off and couldn't play guitar for months. I wrote most of MONOBUZZ during this period.

I'd completely forgotten about it. 20 years later Mark found the files on an old CD-R. I sent the tracks to Chris Keene to be mastered.

I continued to make electronic music until my computer died and I bought an Apple G3. Buzz was a PC only platform. Jesse had moved to Colorado. Mark had moved to the Bay. I'd lost my gurus and didn't know how or where to start over.

Here it is, as it was.
